Both Northwest College basketball teams will return to action on Tuesday night, nearing the end of non-conference play with multiple games at Cabre Gym next week.

TRAPPER WOMEN LOOK FOR SWEEPS

The women’s team (9-6) will match up with Miles Community College first at 5:30 on Tuesday evening, attempting to sweep the season series with the Pioneers (4-11) after the Trappers won 77-66 in Miles City in early November.

After that matchup the Trapper women will take on the Rocky Mountain College JV on Friday for the second time, this time at home at 5:30 p.m. Northwest defeated the Battlin’ Bears on the road in late November 80-51.

Northwest will then kick off Region IX action on Jan. 19 and 20, heading on the road to take on Western Wyoming and Casper College.

The Trappers lost three of their final four games going into the break, but boast an offense that scores nearly 70 points a game.

NWC MEN LOOK TO END STRONG

On the flip side, the Northwest College men’s basketball team (6-9) will be looking to salvage a season split with the Pioneers (9-6) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a close 59-58 loss that came down to the final possession in November.

Northwest will then look for the season sweep of the Rocky Mountain JV on Friday at 7:30 p.m. after earning a 71-66 win in Billings in November.

The Trapper men will have another game on Saturday against the Jump Start Academy at 4 p.m. to complete the non-conference schedule.

Northwest will then head on the road the following weekend on Jan. 19 and 20 to take on Western Wyoming and Casper College to kick off Region IX action.

After an 0-6 start to the season the Trappers have won six of their last nine games, including four of the last five heading into the winter break.

Northwest averages 74 points a game and has only scored under 70 points once since the team’s first win of the season on Nov. 18, scoring at a clip of nearly 78 points over those final nine games.

WRESTLING RETURNS NEXT WEEKEND

With a little bit longer break the Trapper wrestling team will get back into action next weekend for the first time since Dec. 2.

The first competition of the new year will be a trip to Miami, Oklahoma, to take part in the NJCAA National Duals.

That will include approximately 25 junior colleges from around the country, giving Northwest strong competition to open the 2024 calendar year.
