A senior night dual at the Powell Aquatic Center brought out some top times for the Powell Panther girls’ swim and dive team — powered by 10 event wins to defeat Cody 123-63 on Tuesday.

Those victories started when Kik Hayano won the 200 free in 2:10.88. She also won the 100 fly (1:04.7).

Kaitlin Diver was also a two-event winner on Tuesday, winning the 200 IM (2:28.67) and the 500 free (5:42.25).

Paige Thomas earned the top spot in the 50 free (28.39) before Aramonie Brinkerhoff led a strong top three in the diving by breaking 200 for the first time in her career in front of the home fans.

“It’s important to any team to have that team morale and have people come support you so today it was really nice to have a big crowd,” Brinkerhoff said. “It really helped boost morale, had the adrenaline pumping, I think it helped me personally and helped a lot of girls on our team.”

Brinkerhoff said that she felt the crowd helped spur her on to the strong performance, while she and her two diving teammates, Tori Black and Emma Brence, continue to grow closer as the year progresses.

“It was tremendously important (to break 200),” Brinkerhoff said. “It helps because we are so close. We always spend practices separate from the swimmers … The three of us are super close together and we’ve been diving for years together. It’s good to have that support system.”

The final three individual event wins on the night came in the 100 free from Patricia Christensen (1:03.03), Addy Powell in the 100 back (1:08.08) and Kathryn Brence in the 100 breast (1:16.89).

This upcoming weekend a majority of the team will take a break from competition, remaining in Powell to train before the conference meet in Cody next weekend starting on Friday.

The PHS divers will head to the Gillette Invitational in order to perform on the boards which they will use at state in just three weeks’ time on Nov. 3-4.
