Another trip to Fremont County wielded strong results for the Powell Panther girls’ swim and dive team — winning nine of the 12 events and earning a 100 point victory in a tri with Worland and Riverton on Friday.

Individually the Panthers were led by a pair of two event winners. Kik Hayano won the 50 free (27.12) and the 500 free (6:09.23) and Kaitlin Diver won the 200 IM (2:35.96) and the 100 fly (1:09.96).

Other Powell individual event winners were Charlee Brence in the 200 free (2:18.39) and Kathryn Brence in the 100 breast (1:16.38).

Powell swept all three relays on the day — starting with the 200 medley swam by Addy Powell, Kathryn Brence, Paige Thomas and Croix Tryon (2:05.67); the 200 free was swam by Thomas, Diver, Hayano and Patricia Christensen (1:53.44); while the 400 free relay was composed of Diver, Powell, Christensen and Hayano (4:14.38).

“Kik and Patricia continue a long tradition of athletes swimming the 500 free and then jumping back on the starting blocks to sprint a 50 free in the 200 free relay,” coach Bob Smartt said.

The Panthers boasted 15 top three places in the smaller meet — helping Powell finish with 409 points compared to 309 for Worland and 293 for host Riverton.

That meet victory marked the fourth of the season for the Panthers, who will return home for a quick pit stop on Tuesday (today) for a meet at 5 p.m. at the Powell Aquatic Center.

Coming to Powell will be Cody, as the Panthers and Fillies will compete in a dual before heading back on the road for an invitational in Worland on Saturday.
