A very limited number of familiar players will take to the court for the Trapper volleyball team in just two weeks time, with five players making their return to Northwest following a 24-7 season.
The top returner for the Trappers will be middle blocker Sidney Parker, who in her freshman season was named to the Region IX All Region team and the Region IX All Tournament team.
In her freshman year, Parker averaged 2.68 kills per set and finished with 287 kills on the season.
Parker also finished with 239 digs for the season and 92 blocks.
Heading into her second season at Northwest, Parker will look to lead the Trappers as the only returning player to have played in all 31 matches from last season.
Just behind Parker in games played last season is Brooke Palmer, who makes her return for the Trappers after playing 30 games in the 2021 season.
Palmer finished with 73 kills as an outside hitter for the Trappers, along with 84 digs.
Emma Hanson is the other returning Trapper with game experience, having played in 15 games as a setter.
Hanson will look to make an impact after she was a rotational setter last season, finishing with 113 assists over her 15 games played.
Two new but familiar faces will make their way onto the court this upcoming season, as two redshirt players will get their opportunity to make an impact for the Trappers.
Hailey Marshall is an outside hitter from Cheyenne East who was an All-State player in Class 4A before making her way to Northwest.
Marshall will be making her debut alongside Thunder Basin outside hitter Elsa Clark, who was a captain her junior and senior years and was named an All-State player at the 4A level.
The Trappers will take to the court for practice beginning Aug. 1 and the team’s first competition will be at the Big Sky Challenge on Aug. 19.
Northwest coach Scott Keister is hoping these returnees, alongside a group of strong recruits, will help take the Trappers to the next level this season.
