Work will temporarily close Wood River Campground

Posted

A Shoshone National Forest campground in the Meeteetse area will be closed for roughly a month while crews work to make upgrades to the area and restore the stream.

The Wood River Campground and an adjacent dispersed campsite will be closed to the public from Thursday, Aug. 8 through Sept. 8.

Throughout the project, work will be done to enhance the campsites and infrastructure, create parking for day-use fishermen and improve aquatic habitat and stream bank stability adjacent to the campground along the Wood River. Shoshone officials said to expect heavy equipment noise from this project as well as log truck traffic.

The no-fee campground hosts five sites along the Wood River, located roughly 20 miles west of Meeteetse.
