As Northwest College prepares for the start of another school year, the school’s leader continues to settle in for the long haul.
The Northwest College Board of Trustees reaffirmed their trust in President Lisa Watson by approving to renew her three-year contract cycle and raise her salary 2%. She also received a 2% increase to her annual deferred retirement.
Board chair Mark Wurzel announced the end of the delayed process to negotiate and finalize the new contract at the Aug. 14 board meeting.
Watson initially took charge at the school in November 2020 as the interim president. After a lengthy search, in March 2022 she was selected from two finalists for the permanent position.
When her three-year contract was finalized last summer, it provided an annual salary of $198,000. In addition, she receives the same benefits as all full-time college employees, which extends to her family members, but the college pays 100% of Watson’s premiums, including disability and life insurance.
