In response to the Tribune article from the 20th of April, shame on the Park County Outdoor Recreation Collaborative group for their rhetoric about “landlocked” public lands around Heart Mountain. The collaborative seems so desperate for a win that they appear willing to stop at nothing to get what they want even if it means pushing a completely false narrative. I have recreated for years on the public lands surrounding that mountain and I can attest to the fact that the location where this group is suggesting building a very expensive bridge with taxpayer dollars (aka county, state, federal grants) is not landlocked! Any intelligent person looking at a map can see that. Public land users should be outraged at the ignorance and gaslighting on display from this group. Don’t take my word for it, use onX maps or the free online map server resource found on the Park County Wyoming website to see for yourself. Perhaps if the collaborative used facts to guide their discussions they wouldn’t have so many problems getting the “big win” they’re looking for. Or even better, they could find a real project that actually does create access to inaccessible public lands.
