Dear editor:
The health of a society can be measured by its priorities. When a society holds individual pleasures in higher regard than the existence of a helpless human life, that society is sowing the seeds of its own destruction. An aborted child holds potential that will never be realized.
What can be done? Laws against abortion will deter some from depriving a human being of his or her right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Sadly, there will be others who will circumvent laws in order to make their lifestyle sustainable.
Winston Churchill, during his career as a British statesman, learned that it is easier to lead people than to drive them. Fortunately, we have a leader among us who is not only willing, but would be pleased to help extend the lives of vulnerable little ones. Unlike lawmakers, He does not compel anyone to follow Him. We are free to choose, but must live with the consequences of our choices.
