Powell Valley Recycling Center has temporarily closed until further notice. The insurance company previously covering the center for years, Nationwide, has opted out of future coverage.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, it is necessary to close Powell Valley Recycling until the insurance issue is resolved,” said Marynell Oechsner, president of the board of directors for the center.
The board, which manages the center, has opted to close out of an abundance of caution. The board is made up of volunteers from Powell and the surrounding area. The eight part-time employees (largely retirees) will continue to receive their salaries while the board works to resolve the issue.
The closest recycling center in Park County is the City of Cody recycling center, at 531 15th St.
“We thank our patrons for their patience and look forward to your future recycling business,” Oechsner said.
