The Bronze Hat Award came home with Park County Farm Bureau from the 103rd annual meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation meeting in Casper Nov. 10-12.
The bronze hat is emblematic of the most new Century Club members in a local Farm Bureau chapter. Brian Asher, president of Park County Farm Bureau, said the Park County organization is one of the top three in membership in the state.
Farm Bureau Federation has five levels of membership. They are Associate (non-voting) $40, Regular (voting) $80, Century Club $100, Silver Club $250 and Gold Club $500.
Most of the Park County Farm Bureau Federation memberships come from the Farm Bureau insurance agents.
“They do a great job in recruitment of new memberships for the federation,” Asher said, noting there is usually a discount on a member’s insurance for receiving membership as well as other benefits.
“I wanted to make sure that people knew that membership is so much more than just getting a discount on your insurance,” Asher said. “You become part of a grass-roots organization that can help change or guide agriculture policy at the state and federal levels.”
Park County Farm Bureau insurance agents are David Gilliatt in the Powell office, Luke Hopkin and Jeanna Kennedy in the Cody office. Because of proximity, Park County Farm Bureau does receive some memberships from the Greybull office, whose agents are brothers Ellery and Frank Kelly.
