No new leads in Mitchell disappearance

Efforts to find a missing Worland woman that began on July 22 near Nowater Road in Washakie County have not turned up new clues according to recent updates from the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Austin Brookwell said in a post to the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department Facebook page on Tuesday that a cadaver dog had been brought in from Cody. The dog has hit on a possible body at a pond but a diver and a three-day draining of the pond did not turn up any evidence of Breanna Mitchell.

According to the post there have not been any more clues connected to Mitchell’s disappearance. One more search of the area will be conducted before search and rescue efforts in the badlands area is suspended. Brookwell said the details of the search will be posted to the Facebook page if individuals would like to help. Members of the patrol department are currently working on leads from Mitchell’s cellphone data and tips.

“We will continue to work on the law enforcement investigation until nothing is left to investigate,” Brookwell said in the update.

He said civilians are welcome to continue searching but warned them to go in prepared for the rough terrain where rattlesnakes are common. If human-related or case-related items are located, do not touch them or the area around the item Brookwell said. Instead, he said to attempt to get GPS coordinates and call the sheriff’s office at 307-347-2242.
