If food supply is a concern, store your own

Dear editor,

This is in response to article “Residents Ask County To Store Food For Emergencies” in the Jan 5 edition of the Powell Tribune. Some glaring questions come to mind:  where would this food be stored in order to feed everyone in county; how would the “out of date” stock be rotated out; how would this food be protected from pest infestation; how would this food be distributed throughout the county; and just how much food would be adequate, to name just a few?

All of this could be eliminated from the equation with the concept of self reliance. If food supply in case of emergency is of concern, store your own food in quantity and acceptability to you and your family. That’s called self reliance. Dependence on government seems to be a growing idea with U.S. citizens, and a bad idea at that.
