Famed chef featured at Sunday block party in Ten Sleep

On Sunday afternoon, best-selling author, cowboy chef and media personality Kent Rollins will sign copies of his newest cookbook in Ten Sleep.

The event will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the Ten Sleep Public Library. While Rollins signs books, the Lazy T Ranch will fire up the grill and host a block party in the library’s parking lot, offering burgers and Rollins’ famous smoked bologna sandwiches. The event is free, but donations will support the library and its community. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Rollins’ new “Comfort Food the Cowboy Way” cookbook will benefit the library.

An Oklahoma native, Rollins has garnered a reputation for his chuck wagon cooking and cowboy storytelling. He and his wife Shannon released their first cookbook, “A Taste of Cowboy,” in April 2015. It became the No. 2 best-selling book on Amazon for a time and is listed in the “Top 100 Cookbooks to Own in a Lifetime.”

Rollins has appeared on the Food Network shows “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay,” “Chopped Grill Masters,” “Chopped Redemption” and “Cutthroat Kitchen.” He also holds an undefeated record on NBC’s “Food Fighters” and was featured on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

“The small town of Ten Sleep is thrilled to welcome such an accomplished (dare I say famous) individual,” said Caroline George, who handles marketing for the Lazy T Ranch.

Named the “Best Cowboy Humorist and Storyteller of the Year” by the Academy of Western Artists, Rollins carries on the legacy of cooking for cowboys on ranches during spring and fall gatherings. He posts recipes on his YouTube channel, which has upward of 2.5 million subscribers, and his Instagram page, which boasts more than 908,000 followers.
