The Powell Ministerial Association is again sponsoring the Powell Community Thanksgiving dinner at the Park County Fairgrounds on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

What started out over 20 years ago as a means of providing meals for Northwest College students who were staying over the holidays has turned into a community event that has annually served over 600 meals. It speaks well of our town that we have these types of events and an abundance of volunteers.

With inflation and past isolation by some folks, this is an excellent opportunity to get a free meal and socialize with friends. Turkey, gravy, stuffing, rolls, potatoes (and much more) and of course pies will be served.  We encourage folks to join us. It is a wonderful time to visit old friends or make new ones.  It is fun to watch the visiting and enjoyment that occurs. Folks get chatty! And don’t want to leave. It is great.

We will have two serving lines which will shorten the wait and limit the number who have to wait out in the cold. Attendees with physical disabilities will get helped to the front of the line.

Organizations and individuals who want to help share the cost of the event are welcome to write a check to the Trinity Bible Church or bring cash. All proceeds above the costs will go to a local charity. This year it will be the Serenity Pregnancy Resource Center.

If you feel like you want to contribute in other ways, we will not turn down pies. You can always make a pie or two and bring it by the fairgrounds, Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

If you need additional information, would like to volunteer, want to bring food, you need a ride to the dinner, or want food delivered, call 307-250-2177.
