A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper was injured Monday when a commercial truck struck his patrol vehicle on U.S. Highway 212, west of Colony in Wyoming’s northeast corner.
The trooper was stopped on the shoulder of the highway, finishing up with a previous crash, when an eastbound commercial vehicle jackknifed. That caused the truck’s trailer to strike the back of the stopped patrol vehicle.
The trooper, who was in the driver’s seat, was knocked unconscious. A passing motorist who witnessed the crash stopped and called for assistance using the trooper’s radio.
The trooper was transported to Monument Health in Spearfish, South Dakota. His K-9 partner was inside the vehicle when it was struck, but was not injured. The truck driver was also not injured.
