Pastor Don Thomas will preach his last official sermon at Trinity Bible Church on Sunday. He has been Trinity’s only pastor for the past 24 years, and is the most senior pastor in Powell.
The church will host a celebration honoring Pastor Thomas and his wife, Mary, on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Trinity Bible Church, 535 S. Evarts St. in Powell. The event is open to the community.
“We know they have been a blessing to many people reaching far beyond our little church,” said Doug Siggins, an elder at the church.
While Thomas is of retirement age, “he has no intention of retiring and has exciting plans for his remaining years,” Siggins said.
Thomas is helping plant a new church in Cody called Redeeming Grace Church. More information can be found at www.RGCCody.com.
“Don’s desire has been to faithfully labor, ministering the word, to the end of his life with the capacity God allows him to have,” Siggins said. “He also realized that it would be wise to transition out of the preaching pastor role at Trinity Bible Church before his age or health became a crisis.”
For the past few years, the church prayed for a pastor to replace him, “and the Lord has supplied such a man,” Siggins said.
Pastor Brian Onstead is replacing Thomas at Trinity Bible Church. He moved here from Montana, where he was a pastor for four years.
