Three recent graduates from the Powell High School boys’ soccer team were selected for the third edition of the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star game in Gillette this weekend.
Logan Jensen, Cameron Carpenter and Holden Cooper were all selected after a 10-5 campaign for the Panthers this past season which included winning the 3A West Conference title.
Cooper will head over as a goalkeeper selection, after starting the past two years with the Panthers and hauled in over 210 saves for his career. Cooper was named All-State this past season.
Carpenter, a student from Lovell who plays for the Panthers, finished as a 3A West All-Conference selection after scoring 10 goals for Powell this year while moving into an expanded role with the team.
Jensen has featured as a center back for the Panthers over his career, and started in the middle for Powell this past season.
Players are set to arrive in Gillette on Thursday (today) to participate in meetings and a training session. Teams will not be based on location, and players will be drafted onto teams Thursday night.
Players will then participate in training sessions on Friday with their designated teams before hosting a skills clinic for youth players from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday night.
Games on Saturday are set to start at 4 p.m. with the girls’ game and the boys at 6 p.m. at Pronghorn Field at Gillette College.
Powell was tied for the third most selections for the game alongside Worland, Thunder Basin, Sheridan and Cheyenne South.
Evanston received the most selections for the boys with five, just ahead of Riverton with four.
