Eleven Powell athletes compete at Big Sky camp

Summer brought more competition for 11 local area Powell athletes in July, this time going north to Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Montana to take part in the track and field Big Sky State Games and World Record Camp.

The camp welcomed athletes from middle school through high school age, with several Olympic athletes, college champions and coaches teaching the camp.

Those in attendance coaching included Willie Banks, Erin Shean, Duncan Atwood, Gregg Simmons, Scott Huffman, Tripp Piperi and Daniel Roberts.

Leading the way for Powell and setting a new record at the camp was Kindyle Floy, who set a new high jump record for age 12-13 girls — winning by clearing 4 feet, 8 inches, breezing past the previous record of 4 feet, 2 inches.

She also won the 100 meter dash in 13.6 seconds, while finishing second in the 55 meter dash (8.03) and 200 meter dash (28.64).

Also competing in the 12-13 girls division was Abigail Visocky, who finished third in the 100 meters (14.81), sixth in the 200 meters (31.09), third in the 100 meter hurdles (20.52) and third in the 200 meter hurdles (35.25).

The final girls competitor in the 12-13 division was Autumn Kidd, who placed second in the high jump (4-2), fourth in the 200 meter hurdles (37.3) and fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (21.6).

Three Powell girls competed in the age 16-18 division, with Charity Siggins placing the highest — taking second in the 100 meter hurdles (19.26) and third in the high jump (4-8).

Catelynn Floy had top finishes in the triple jump (31-7 1/2) taking fourth, fifth in the long jump (15-0 1/2), eighth in the 200 meters (30.76) and 12th in the 100 meters (14.7).

Averie Warner was the other high school competitor for the girls, taking seventh in the 200 meters (30.35) and 10th in the 100 meters (14.23).

Addie Brown also attended the camp and was part of the 12-13-year-old girls’ relay with Kindyle Floy, Kidd and Visocky, with the team finishing second.

On the boys’ side in the 12-13 year old division Braxton Nelson placed second in the high jump (4-10), third in the long jump (14-0 3/4), fifth in the 200 meters (28.16) and seventh in the 100 meters (13.72).

In the 14-15-year-old division Powell had three boys. Caden Nelson led the way finishing in first for the 55 meters (7.11) and long jump (18-3 3/4), second in the 200 meters (24.91) and third in the 100 meters (12.16).

Breckyn Kobbe also had high placements, which included fourth in the 100 meters (12.3), fifth in the long jump (16-10 1/2) and ninth in the 200 meters (25.99).

Cobey Khan placed sixth in the 55 meters (7.72) and 12th in both the 100 meters (13.2) and 200 meters (26.85).
