Jake and Kay Clark’s Ralston property was filled with horses last Friday and many of the people who would, after seeing them perform, turn around and pay top dollar the next day.
When the Cody Horse Sale was over Saturday and the fencing next to The Irma was taken down, sellers had pulled in an average of $17,203 per saddle horse, according to show results, with the top two horses going for $59,000 and $58,000.
Dillon, a 4-year-old blue roan quarter draft cross gelding, from RMO Horses, fetched the top price. Smokey, a 4-year-old paint gelding, from A-J Horses, nearly matched that total.
TJ Clark, who manages the Cody Horse Sale, said this year’s result was pretty similar as far as prices and horses are concerned.
“The draft crosses seem to be bringing the most money,” he said.
And the show continues to bring in people from all over.
“They come in from all 49 states, or they’re phone bidding or internet bidding,” he said.
