Monday, July 3, will celebrate the service of Lovell’s Joe White — a sports official who has served 50 consecutive years as an official in the Big Horn Basin.
Over those 50 years, White has been an official and continues to help officials across a wide array of sports including football, cross country, basketball and track and field competitions across Wyoming.
A proclamation from Gov. Mark Gordon has declared that Monday will be Joe White Appreciation Day.
In a letter to White, Gordon congratulated him on his service and wished him luck in the years to come.
“I have no doubt you’ve seen generations of children throughout your officiating career and what wonderful memories you must have,” Gordon said. “We are glad to hear you continue to referee games in the Big Horn Basin and hope that continues for many more years.”
