A pair of ceremonies will take place Friday night during the Powell vs. Cody basketball games at Powell High School. Jaci Hitz (formerly Jaci Heny) will be inducted into the Powell Panther Hall of Fame at halftime of the girls’ basketball game and both the boys’ and girls’ track teams will unveil the 2023 championship banners in between the games.

Hitz competed at Powell High School from 1998-2002, finishing All-State three times in basketball and tennis while also being the regional champion in discus in 2002. She was an 11-time letter winner during her time at PHS.

She was also named a Milward Simpson Athlete of the Year finalist, recognizing the best male and female senior regardless of classification in Wyoming.

Hitz is still the PHS all-time leader in career points with 1,135 and steals with 214 while holding the record for single game scoring with 30.

After Powell she attended Sheridan College for two years before attending Montana State University-Northern and she still holds numerous records at the NAIA school.

Hitz went on to coach in Douglas for six years before coaching at the University of Great Falls in Montana.

She moved back to Powell in the mid 2010s and currently serves as a health and PE teacher at Powell Middle School in addition to serving on the Northwest College Trapper Booster Club board.

Hitz will be the ninth member inducted into the hall of fame, and will join Jesseca Cross and Dale Ann Meeker as the third female in the select group.

In between the games the Panther girls’ track team will unveil the third straight state championship banner they won in May and fifth in school history, while the boys will unveil their first since 2014 and 13th in school history.
