Lady Trappers on five-game win streak

Pushing their winning streak to five games, the Lady Trappers basketball team won two on the road last week, beating Williston State College, 82-38, and Dawson Community College, 70-58. The Northwest College women now have an overall record of 11-4 heading into the Christmas break.

Trapper wrestlers split duals on the road

Northwest College’s wrestling team traveled to Miami, Oklahoma, last week, splitting a pair of duals at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Friday.

Powell High School’s wrestlers opened their season with a victory at home, beating 19 other teams at the Powell Athletic Roundtable Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Twelve PHS wrestlers placed in the top six.

PHS swimmers start season strong

The Powell High School boys swim team started the season out strong at home in a triangular with Worland and Cody. Eight of the Panthers’ 16 swimmers posted state qualifying times — and they won nine of the 12 events on Friday.

Two recent wins put the Lady Trappers’ record at 9-4 — the best start to a season for the Northwest College women’s basketball program in at least 10 years.

Trappers show improvement in Great Falls

The Northwest College wrestling team traveled to Great Falls, Montana, to compete in the Argo Duals on Friday, where the team went 1-2. On Saturday, the Trappers competed amongst 23 teams in the Heritage Inn Open, with sophomore Taylor Jefferies finishing third in the 133-pound weight class.

Powell High School’s freshman football team won five out of their eight games this season.

A tough stretch that saw the Northwest College men’s basketball team drop four of five games ended over the weekend at the Big Horn Federal Shootout, with the Trappers notching wins over Dawson Community College and Rocky Mountain JV.

About 20 schools will descend on Powell this Friday and Saturday for the Powell High School Wrestling Invitational, which will officially begin the season for the Panther wrestlers.
