Whereabouts of Worland resident remain unknown following extensive search

The Washakie County Sheriff's Office is no longer searching for missing Worland resident Breanna Mitchell in the large area around where she was last seen, according to a Tuesday release on the department’s Facebook page.

Mitchell has still not been located following a search last Friday that included search and rescue personnel from surrounding counties and Find-911, a private company based in Cody.

A total of 45 search and rescue personnel from Washakie (including one helicopter), Hot Springs, Park, Sheridan, Johnson and Big Horn counties arrived at the area where Breanna's vehicle was last seen.

“SAR personnel from the above-listed counties searched the area until it was dark. I am still waiting on all the above counties to send me their map data to be able to get the exact amount of square miles that were searched,” Washakie County Sheriff Austin Brookwell said in the release. “I estimate SAR has searched well over 20 square miles of land in this area. Again this is just an estimation.”

Unfortunately, nothing of importance was discovered.

Brookwell said that Find-911 is still processing the images taken and a report will be provided to him this week.

“I want to thank all the counties who assisted us. It was truly impressive to make a phone call and have this amount of support show up,” Brookwell said in the release. “Wyoming is truly lucky to have these individuals volunteering their time to assist with lost and missing persons.”

The sheriff’s office said it will continue going through all the tips, cellphone data, search warrants and all other leads.

The sheriff said in the release that there is no evidence to prove there was any "foul play" regarding her disappearance.
