Dear editor:
A letter in the April 11 Powell Tribune entitled "Stop the lies" warrants a response. We vehemently defend the right of anyone to voice their opinion. Mr. Reuter is entitled to his opinion, but not entitled to his own "facts.” He makes the assertion that there were attack(s) on congressional representatives on Jan 6. There were no such attacks. Stating this "fact" would tend to question the voracity of any statement that followed in his lengthy treatise. There are a number of his claims which bear close scrutiny. Mr. Reuter needs to embrace his statement of "stop the lies.” We at least included some credible resources which lead to the frustration for events that took place, and a moment-by-moment documentary of the events that day (Jan. 6).
We worry for our country with biased news and non-factual information widely disseminated through various outlets. We worry about our country with the justice system being perverted by activist judges and rogue three-letter agencies. We worry about our country under the lawless "leadership" by those at the head of "our" government. We worry about our country with the indoctrination of our children and military with misguided "woke" ideologies. We worry about our country by a devolving segment of society turning into raging mobs burning and looting our cities when something doesn't go the way they think. We worry about our country becoming an unsafe "third-world" cesspool letting millions of unvetted illegal aliens in unchecked. We worry that there are becoming more "takers" than "makers" who will vote only for those who would endorse their malingering lifestyles. In short, this 2024 election will be telling to see if we remain a constitutional republic or revert to an autocratic self serving government with no regard for the rule of law.
