Hadley Mehling, Brody Wells and Matt Seckman each emerged victorious at the North Big Horn USA Wrestling tournament on March 19. The three were among a group of 10 grapplers to place in the top two of their age and weight divisions.
A total of 153 youth from throughout the region competed in the tournament.
Mehling captured top honors in the 50-pound 6-and-under division. Powell’s other two champions came in the 9-10 age division. Wells won the 87-pound title while Seckman topped the charts at 103 pounds.
A total of 44 members of the Powell USA Wrestling club placed in the top six of their respective divisions.
Runner-up wrestlers included Dane Lauritzen (6-and-under, 45 lbs.), Michael Timmons (age 7-8, 55 lbs.), Rodrigo Garcia (age 7-8, 65 lbs.), Trevor Grover (age 9-10, 50 lbs.), Trent Lytle (age 9-10, 55 lbs.), Ashton Brewer (age 9-10, 75 lbs.), Jeff Flores (age 11-12, 85 lbs.) and Nick Mundy (age 11-12, 105 lbs.).
Third-place finishers included Colt Nicholson (age 9-10, 55 lbs.), Mason Marchant (age 9-10, 60 lbs.), Travis Lytle (age 9-10, 65 lbs.), Tyler Cramer (age 9-10, 70 lbs.), Seth Horton (age 9-10, 80 lbs.), James Moore, age 11-12, 70 lbs.), Cole Boardman (age 11-12, 90 lbs.) and Kalvin McPherson (age 13-14, 91 lbs.).
Fourth place finishers were Case Bradish (6-and-under, 45 lbs.), Justin Wardell (age 7-8, 50 lbs.), Vincent Timmons (age 7-8, 45 lbs.), Steven Stambaugh, (age 7-8, 55 lbs.) Crandell Sanders (age 9-10, 60 lbs.), Ethan Wardell (age 9-10, 65 lbs.), Preston Quarles (age 11-12, 70 lbs.) and Marshall Wittick (age 13-14, 91 lbs.).
Nine youth finished in fifth place. They were Lucas Young (6-and-under, 40 lbs.), Kash Brazelton (6-and-under, 40 lbs.), Bode Bently (6-and-under, 40 lbs.), Wyatt Nicholson (6-and-under, 40 lbs.), Wesley Preator (age 7-8, 50 lbs.), Caden Gines (age 7-8, 55 lbs.), Colton Brewer (age 7-8, 55 lbs.), Tyler Timmons (age 9-10, 55 lbs.) and Trever Feller (age 9-10, 60 lbs.).
