Upstage Dance Academy returns for a third year

Upstage Dance Academy will be returning to the Park County Fair for its third consecutive year.

This year, like last year, Upstage Dance Academy will be showing off 75 dancers on the Pepsi free stage who have registered for their summer season. The dancers will also once again have a presence walking and riding down Bent Street in the Park County Fair Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Upstage Dance Academy teaches ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop and acrobatic dance.

Audiences can expect that each day will be a different set of dances with both new routines and routines from their previous recitals.

“Myself and my sister Katelyn went to Casper College together and majored in dance and we really just wanted a fun environment in Powell, where we grew up, for kids to dance,” co-owner Mariah Lang said ahead of last year’s fair.

Lang was encouraged going into last year’s performances on the Pepsi free stage because it gave kids a chance to perform in front of the community and offerws a more relaxed performance environment.

The academy will perform three out of the five days at the Park County Fair starting at noon on Wednesday and Thursday and followed by a final performance at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Fall enrollment is currently open for those interested in joining the group.
