On Thursday at 5 p.m. University Women will present a program exploring ideas and theories of various famous scientists as they endeavored to unlock the secrets of our universe. The speaker will be Deephti Amarasuriya who is the assistant professor of physics at Northwest College.
Most of us have heard of Hubble and James Webb and their space revelations with their telescopes that we could never imagine. The interplay of theoretical calculations and observational findings continues to change our view of the universe with seemingly bizarre ideas. Did you know that 95% of the universe is made of yet unknown substances called dark matter and dark energy? Even Einstein’s equations of relativity had pointed out the expansion of the universe. Deepthi has so many other amazing insights to share with us about our universe. You will not want to miss it.
Deepthi is currently the assistant professor of physics at NWC and is highly regarded in her field of study. She has been involved in numerous other studies that enable her to bring in-depth knowledge to her students.
The public is invited to attend our meeting in the conference room at the Powell Library
AAUW members will have a short business meeting at 4:30 prior to the program.
