In Park County, there are 585 people within the civilian labor force who were unemployed in July, out of a total of 16,857 workers. That’s according to figures released last week by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.
The numbers put Park County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 3.5 percent for July, which was below the state average of 3.8 percent and the national average of 3.7 percent.
Across the state, July unemployment rates held steady in most counties from the previous months, including here in Park County, where the June rate was 3.4 percent.
The largest increase was seen in Campbell County, where the rate jumped from 4.1 percent to 5.7 percent from June to July, in the wake of the mine layoffs. Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.0 percent.
Since January, the unemployment rate in Park County has fallen from 5.7 percent, following annual trends. For the past three years, July has seen the Park County unemployment rate hover around 3.5 percent.
Since July 2018, the total labor force in Park County has fallen from 17,285. The total number of people in the workforce who were unemployed dropped by 1.
Total non-farm employment in Wyoming increased from 292,600 in July 2018 to 298,900 in July 2019, a gain of 6,300 jobs.
