The library and Powell’s future

The Powell Library has long been the gathering place for young and old to come to explore other worlds and gain new insights. With the rapid expansion of information in our time, the library no longer has the space to hold all of it.

On Thursday at 5 p.m. in the library meeting room, Pat Stuart, who serves on the library expansion committee, will bring AAUW up to date on the plans for expanding the library space and bringing new innovations to the library. Since how effectively these changes are made influences our future, as a community it is important to be aware and a part of developing these plans.

Stuart had her start in the Powell and Cody schools, then she spent the next 31 years as a CIA operations officer serving many of those years in exotic places around the world. When she retired, she returned to the family farm here in Wyoming. She wrote a book about the adventurous story connected to her family as well as a book about living her years with the CIA. Along with writing and publishing other books, she shares her skills by writing a column for the Tribune. She has put her organizational skills to work serving in community affairs projects with a particular focus on expanding the Powell Library to enable it to meet the needs of the town as it grows over the next 20 years.

The public is invited to attend the meeting. The AAUW members will have a business meeting at 4:30 p.m. with the program starting at 5. Come and explore the future.
