Robert Cauffman

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Burlington LDS Church for Robert (Bob) William Cauffman, 90, who died Monday, Sept. 5 at the Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home between Basin and Greybull.

He was born June 5, 1915, at Enders Lake, Nebr., to Charles Clifford and Winnifred Alice (McMullen) Cauffman. He moved with his family to the Big Horn Basin approximately in 1920.

He married Glena Dora Nicholson Oct. 21, 1933, in Billings, Mont.

He was a farmer, rancher, miner, contractor and mechanic for most of his life which was spent on his farm at Burlington. One of his greatest loves was going to the auction. The name “Cauffman” in the German language means “the Buying Man,” which so fit Bob.

He was a member of the LDS Church at Burlington.

Survivors include three sons, Robert William (Diane) Cauffman, Jr., and Kenneth Raymond (Marlea) Cauffman of Burlington and Charles Roger (Ilene) Cauffman of Powell; four daughters, Darlene Gay Thomas of Greeley, Colo., Sandra Lee House of Burlington, Alice Charlene (Charles) Raper of Natoma, Kans., and Carol Elaine (Wayne) Sparks of Burlington; 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Glena in 1998; his son, Richard Dale Cauffman, in 1953; his brother, Gerald Cauffman; his two sisters, Mildred June Spens and Millicent Cressie Carnell; one grandchild, Wes Lee House in 1972; and one son-in-law, Merle House.

Burial was in the Burlington Cemetery.
