Northwest College is bringing in a familiar face to coach its soccer teams for the 2021 season.
Rob Hill, who served as head coach of NWC men’s and women’s soccer from 2010 to 2017, will serve in the same role for the Trappers this season. Hill was the first coach in program history, building it from a club team to an NJCAA collegiate squad.
“We are very excited to bring back Rob Hill as our interim men’s and women’s soccer coach,” said NWC Athletic Director Brian Erickson. “Rob was instrumental in starting the soccer program 11 years ago. In program history, he has the most successful seasons we’ve ever had for the women’s and men’s program.”
NWC interim president Lisa Watson said, “Rob is a familiar face, and he understands how important our student-athletes are for our campus and our local community. He recruits student-athletes that are successful on the field and in the classroom. We are very fortunate to welcome him back to NWC and have a coach of his caliber take over our soccer programs.”
This announcement comes after the Feb. 12 dismissal of the previous head coach, Aaron Miller.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Hill ventured to Wyoming in 2000 to serve as the director of Cody’s Yellowstone Fire soccer program. He later coached at Cody High School before joining Northwest. After departing NWC in 2017, Hill joined the Idaho Rush Soccer Club as an associate technical director.
Northwest begins practice in the coming weeks, with the season officially starting March 15. The men’s and women’s squads will play their first matches on April 7 against Casper College.
