President's words taken out of context

Dear editor:

In a letter in the May 15 issue a writer used a comment by President Donald Trump in an attempt to disparage him regarding upholding the Constitution. However, as many who disfavor the president do, the writer used the comment without noting the context.

It should be noted that Trump's comment was in response to a query specifically regarding "alien enemies" primarily related to the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law invoked by Trump to deport certain migrants, specifically members of the Tren de Aragua gang. His response was to indicate that due to uncertainty about said law he would lean on legal advice from his attorneys; not that he would not uphold the Constitution.

It is sad to me that persons out there, more often than not, will use incorrect language to discredit those whose politics disagree with theirs.

Perhaps those persons should not overlook that as of Nov. 11 last year the Biden-Harris administration routinely violated the Constitution to implement an agenda that harmed our nation. From unlawfully orchestrating the border invasion to attacking our oil and gas industries and illegally abusing taxpayer money to censor our own citizens, the federal government was ruthlessly weaponized against the American people.
