Brown's hat trick fuels eight-goal scoring assaultAfter a couple of low-scoring affairs, the Powell High School Panthers regained their goal-scoring swagger on Monday evening with an 8-2 throttling of Pinedale in 3A West boys soccer action. The win lifts fifth-ranked Powell to a 6-3-1 mark on the year. The victory also moves Powell into a tie with Worland for third place in the 3A West standings. The Panthers will have the opportunity to break that tie on Saturday when they host Worland in a rematch of last Friday's 2-1 Powell win. Despite playing their third game in four days, the Panthers showed no signs of being fatigued on Monday in Riverton. The Panthers jumped on the scoreboard early and piled on goals at a furious pace. Senior Jordan Brown earned a hat trick with three goals. Drayson Bratt added a pair of goals while Gianluca Giarrizzo, Galen Mills and Mitch Barker all found the back of the net as well. The eight-goal outburst matched Powell's best offensive production of the season. The Panthers also had eight goals in an 8-0 shutout of Torrington back on March 28. Along with Saturday's home contest against Worland, the Panthers travel to Lander on Friday as they wrap up a schedule that features five games in a nine-day stretch.
