Two meets canceled due to weather

Winter weather around the region continues to wreak havoc on the Powell High School track team’s schedule, with the Panthers being unable to hit the track for a meet to this point in the season that began on March 6.

So far Powell has had one originally scheduled meet in Burlington canceled last Friday and another last second meet in Cody canceled last Saturday.

Coach Scott Smith said the Panthers are planning to attend a meet in Worland today (Thursday) with that meet scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.

Weather in Worland is expected to be in the mid-40s.

Another meet has been added to the schedule for the Panthers, who will head to Cody at 11 a.m. on Monday to take part in the Meetster Bunny Invitational.

Weather is predicted to be in the 60s on Monday.

The Panther girls are seeking a strong start in defense of their back-to-back state titles, while the Panther boys are looking for a strong step towards another podium finish after taking third in Casper last May.
