Patrol seeks info after Friday crash in Badger Basin

An errant driver reportedly caused a Friday rollover in Badger Basin and the Wyoming Highway Patrol is now trying to identify the unknown person.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m., near milepost 12 on Wyo. Highway 294.

A commercial vehicle owned by Billings Sign Service had been heading west on Wyo. Highway 294 when an eastbound pickup briefly swerved into the company vehicle’s lane, Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Brett Tillery said.

The Billings Sign Service employee then “swerved to miss the person, and ended up tipping the vehicle over,” causing it to roll one time, Tillery said of the reports he received. Traffic on the highway was temporarily stopped while the sign company’s vehicle — a single-cab truck with an attached bed and aerial lift — was removed from the road.

The driver, who lives in the Billings area, was taken to Powell Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released later in the day, the trooper said.

As for the green Ford pickup that reportedly swerved and caused the crash, it was gone when law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene.

“The investigation is still ongoing, on trying to figure out … who was driving it,” Tillery said Monday, adding, “If you have any information on who the vehicle and driver was, the Highway Patrol would like to know.”

Anyone with information is asked to call dispatch at 307-777-4321.
