The Meeteetse Museums invites the public for a tour of the historic Pitchfork Ranch on Saturday, July 29. The Pitchfork Ranch was founded by Otto Franc in 1878 and is one of the oldest ranches in the Big Horn Basin. The ranch was also the backdrop for the photographs by Charles Belden, recent recipient of the Governor’s Arts Awards. The tour will be led by owner, Dr. Lenox Baker. Guests will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Pitchfork Ranch and hear colorful stories about its past. Because the tour takes place on private property, guests are required to meet at the Meeteetse Museums to leave for the ranch at 9:30 a.m. sharp. Guests should bring sun protection, plenty of water and be ready to walk. There is the option to have lunch on-site and guests willing to do that should bring their own lunch and folding chairs. The tour usually takes about three hours.
Pre-registration is needed for going on this tour. To pre-register either call or stop in at the Meeteetse Museums.
The Meeteetse Museums is located at 1947 State Street, Meeteetse, Wyoming. For more information call (307) 868-2423 or email programs@meeteetsemuseums.org. This tour is part of the Meeteetse Museums’ “Perspectives of the Past” summer programming series made possible by the Wyoming Humanities.
