(June 29, 1933 - March 18, 2003) Memorial services will be March 28 in Spokane, Wash., for Marlene Georgia Mobley, 69, a former reporter for The Powell Tribune, who died Tuesday, March 18 at West Wind Court in Brandon, Ore.The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. at the Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ in Spokane, Wash. Mrs. Mobley was born June 29, 1933 to Ruth and George Franz at the family ranch in Sublette County. She attended school in Pinedale and graduated from Wassatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver and then enrolled at the University of Wyoming where she graduated with a degree in journalism in 1955.Following graduation, she worked in the advertising department of the Buffalo Bulletin in Buffalo. In June 1956 she married David Mobley in Pinedale. The couple lived in Sheridan until 1958 when they moved to Cheyenne.In 1962, she worked for the Riverton Ranger before moving to Cody and then to Powell in 1971 where she was employed as a reporter for The Powell Tribune. She later moved to Laramie.In 1999, she moved to Brandon, Ore., where she was diagnosed with Lou Gerhig's disease in 2000.She loved hiking in the mountains and along ocean beaches. She was also an avid bird watcher.Survivors include her husband; daughter, Karen Mobley of Spokane; two sisters, Maxine Calvert of San Diego, Calif., and Marjorie Lambson of Redlands, Calif. She was preceded in death by her son, Curtis. Memorial may be given to the conservation charity of the donor's choice. Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service of Brandon is in charge of arrangements.
