Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the Lovell Middle School gymnasium for Marcos Montanez, 14, who died Thursday, Dec. 14.
He was born July 7, 1992, in Lovell. From the beginning, Marcos struggled. He was born prematurely and weighed only 2 pounds. After spending two months hospitalized in Billings, he finally came home to Lovell weighing 5 pounds.
He and his mother, Lydia, flew to California for an extended visit with Grandma Maria and Grandpa Luis. Ever since he was little, Marcos referred to Luis as Dad.
Although he didn’t have brothers, he considered his cousin, Mario, his brother. He loved to pick on his sisters, Abigail and Ana, but he loved them very much. He was one of many cousins in the Montanez family, and he will be missed very much.
Marcos loved sports, especially football. His dream was to see the Denver Broncs football stadium and to see the mountains of California. In school, he participated in football, basketball and wrestling. He was a member of the Community Youth Council, Catholic Youth Organization and at one time was an altar boy.
Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home.
