(Nov. 18, 1920 - April 3, 2001) Memorial services are scheduled Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church in Powell for Lyle C. Slaght, 80, who died at his Powell home on Tuesday, April 3.Pastor Don Peel will officiate at services. Cremation has taken place.Mr. Slaght was born Nov. 18, 1920, to Cornelius and Dora (Hutt) Slaght in Margie, Minn. On Jan. 11, 1945, he married Dolores Marion Shebelbon in Milwaukee, Wisc.They lived in several locations during their 56 years together. He was a mechanical engineer, and that profession provided him with several opportunities to perfect construction of sawmill operations. They had lived in Powell for the last six months. Survivors include his wife Dolores of Powell; two sons, Lyle E. Slaght and wife Sue of San Antonio, Texas, and Patrick G. Slaght of Powell; three daughters, Dora Lea Gordon of Sumner, Wash., Randette Burris of Anchorage, Alas., and Valerie Schaafsma and husband Antone Simon Buddy of Powell; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 brothers and sisters; two sons, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
