Local churches cancel services, others plan to continue to gather

(UPDATE: This list became outdated following Thursday's public health order,  which prohibits gatherings of 10 or more people.)

Amid concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak, some local churches will no longer meet in person, but will offer services online. Other churches plan to continue meeting this weekend.

The following local churches shared their service information with the Tribune by press time Wednesday:

• Charity Baptist Church is hosting regularly scheduled church meetings. The church does livestream its services every Sunday morning and evening, so those who would not want to attend can watch from home.

• The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: The church moved to an online service on March 15 with no public in-person services. They currently are broadcasting, via the internet, each Sunday at 9 a.m. Specific information on each broadcast is on Friends of Cody Stake Facebook page.

Faith Community Church will not be meeting through April 6. The church will have a message each week posted to its website: https://faith-community-church.org/

• First Southern Baptist Church leaders are meeting later this week to decide if they are changing times or not.

• First United Methodist Church is not meeting for the rest of the month and is working on possibly getting an online Bible study. Call the church at 307-754-3160 for more information.

• Garland Community Church of God is still meeting as scheduled on Sunday.

• Glad Tidings Assembly of God will not host a service at the church for at least the next two Sundays. The church will do Facebook live on their Glad Tidings Church page on Facebook. All of its different ministries during the week are on hold as well.

• Grace Point: As of this coming Sunday, the church is moving to online only for Sunday sermons — available at gracepointpowell.org. Due to the recent COVID-19 confirmed case in Cody, the church building is closed until further notice (at least until April 3). All scheduled groups, events, classes, etc. are canceled for now.

• Hope Lutheran Church will not meet for two weeks.

• Immanuel Lutheran Church: As of press time, the church is planning on its regular schedule, subject to change as things unfold.

• Living Hope Community Church is meeting, but is asking folks who fall into a high risk-group — or are in close contact with anyone in that group —  to stay home. The church is also asking those who have symptoms of any illness to stay home. For those who stay home, the church can help connect them with local churches that will be live streaming their services.

• New Life Church leaders decided to offer online Sunday services on March 22 and March 29 via their website: www.newlifepowell.com, through their Facebook page and on YouTube until early April, unless otherwise specified.

• St. Barbara’s Catholic Church: The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cheyenne temporarily suspended all Masses, including daily Masses, effective March 17. This decision was made after participating in a conference call with Gov. Mark Gordon, the Wyoming Department of Health, and other leaders of faith-based organizations in Wyoming. Parish offices will remain open for now.

• St. John’s Episcopal Church is not meeting for two to three weeks. There is nothing definite yet regarding online streaming.

• Trinity Bible Church’s Sunday schedule remains the same: Sunday school at 9 a.m., morning service at 10:30 a.m. and evening service at 5:30 p.m. The church is also live streaming for those who are sick or more susceptible, whom they have asked to stay home. The link to the livestream can be found at https://www.facebook.com/TBCWyoming/.

• Union Presbyterian Church leaders were scheduled to have a meeting Wednesday evening to make decisions.
