Junior Livestock sale maintains large prices

This year’s Junior Livestock Sale continued a trend of rising sale numbers with a grand total of $632,028.

That’s higher than last year’s total of $618,536 but under 2021’s record breaking $645,442. Joe Bridges, chairman of the sales committee, had expected numbers may adjust back down to a more typical range ahead of this year’s sale. In 2019 and 2020 sale totals were in the $400,000 range.

“Everytime I thought we might go backwards is some of the greatest years we’ve had in the sale,” Bridges said.

This year’s sale saw 255 animals with the average price per pound of both hogs and lambs breaking previous records.

Bridges applauded buyers new and old and the community for helping the children when they needed it.

“We had a great turnout. We had lots of buyers and lots of buyers who stayed right up to the last animal,” Bridges said.
