Happy Birthday America! And there is no greater place to celebrate than a visit to the new Powell Library. Our summer reading theme this year is all about America’s 250th birthday, Stars, Stripes and Stories. All three of our libraries will be filled with activities, programming, reading and lots of fun. It is not too late to join in on the fun and sign up and participate. The last day for Summer Reading in Powell will be July 17.
Craig Johnson is coming to the Powell Library, on Friday, July 3 at 6 p.m. Johnson will be visiting to discuss his popular Longmire series; sign and purchase books.
Bring the whole family to the library on Monday, July 6 at 2 p.m. and be entertained by Charlie Williams: The Noise Guy.
Make sure and join us at the Powell Library on Wednesday, July 22 at 4 p.m. for an author talk by Ben Murphy. Ben will be discussing his book “Heart Mountain Chronicles: The History of a Japanese Relocation Center” by Bernard Murphy and James Murphy.
Join us for all ages craft on Friday, July 17 at 1 p.m. for Bead Weaving and Tipi Art.
Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m. and transform wooden clothespins into butterfly or dragonfly.
Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets on July 14 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “Isola,” by Allegra Goodman. The evening book discussion group will meet on Tuesday, July 28 at 6 p.m. to discuss “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” by John Berendt.
Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday, sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on July 21, sign ups required.
Teens join us on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. to make Shrinky Dink Key Chains.
For ages 10 and up we will be hosting a Boston Tea Party STEM activity on Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Then join us for a Western Landscape art program on Friday, July 10 at 1 p.m.
We have lots of activities for everyone but bring the kids to the library for Toddler Time every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Join us every Wednesday for Storytime at 2 p.m. Join us for a special Storytime at the Caboose at the Homesteader Museum on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m.
All Park County libraries will be closed July 3 and 4 in celebration of Independence Day.
The Powell Library will be closed the morning of Wednesday, July 22 for staff training. We will open the doors to the public at 1 p.m.
