The Rev. John W. Akre, 73, of Billings, formerly of Kenyon, Minn., died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010.
He ministered to many, always had a unique sense of humor, there were many anonymous accomplishments. He was an avid lover of sports and a fan to many.
He was the pastor at Hope Lutheran in Powell from 1970-'78.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Cora Akre. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Kathleen; children John M. (Beth Peloff), Jennifer (Ed) Rasmussen, Dan, Kaia (Kevin) Hillegass and Kirsten (Anthony Star) Akre; and the children's mother, Kate; brother Charles (Sharon); 11 grandchildren; two stepsons, Laine (Chris) Seppanen and Tyler Seppanen; close cousins, Betty Zanmiller and Brynhild Rowberg; and other relatives and countless friends.
He is loved and will be missed.
A memorial service was held in Billings.
Smith Funeral Chapel in Billings helped the family with arrangements.
