Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church for Janis L. Pearl, 71, Powell, who lost a courageous battle with cancer and died early Saturday, Nov. 15 at her son's home in Greybull.
The Rev. David Hunter will officiate at services. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Greybull at 1 p.m.
She was born in Sundance on Nov. 29, 1931, to Andrew (Andy) and Lou (Graham) Williamson. She received her schooling in Sundance.
In February of 1960, she married Dale J. Wright. To this union, she brought four young children whom Dale loved and cherished as his own. The family moved to Fort Robinson, Nebr., where he worked on the U.S. Beef Research Station.
In the spring of 1964, her husband was offered a position as a foreman on a ranch. The family moved to Billings, Mont., in May of 1964 to begin 10 years of ranch life on the Bar Diamond Ranch north of the city. During this time, Janis worked at an answering service and a bank in Billings.
Her husband died of cancer in 1977, and in 1982, Janis relocated to Powell.
She married Bill E. Pearl in Red Lodge, Mont., Oct. 21, 1988.
Her interests were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with a special place in her heart for each. She was a talented seamstress. She crocheted beautiful afghans for friends and presented each grandchild with an afghan made especially to their liking. She also enjoyed crafts of all kinds, upholstering, antiques, being a homemaker and cooking, and she was an avid drag racing fan.
Janis enjoyed dancing and singing and looked forward to weekends when she and Bill could dance the night away.
She worked at First National Bank in Powell from 1982 until retiring in early 1999. She and husband Bill have managed Cactus Garden Court in Powell for 14 years.
She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 in Powell.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Pearl of Powell; two sons, Terry (Janet) Mollenbrink of Greybull and Gary Mollenbrink of Billings; two daughters, Sherry (Bill) Byxbe of Billings and Andrea Hawthorne of Powell; a sister, Mavis Hunt of Greybull; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Atwood Family Chapel in Basin Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. on Thursday prior to services.
