Idolina Leyva was born Jan. 25, 1936, in El Cenizo, Texas, to Cayetano and Sara (Balderas) Garcia. She was the eighth of nine children and a daddy’s girl.

She married Gavino Leyva Feb. 28, 1965, in a small church wedding in Worland, Wyoming. In this union they had four children: Elva Gonzales, Priscilla (Scott) Stringari, Sara (Bobby) Chapa, and Mark (Lisa) Leyva. Her legacy continued with15 grand and great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Cesario, Marcos, Ruben, Francisco, and Robert Garcia; sisters Carolina Lopez, Lydia Garcia, and Aurora Martinez; and grandson Joey Gonzales.

Throughout her life she loved planting flowers, traveling, painting, embroidery, laughing and attending church every Sunday, watching Molly B. polka with her husband, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She had the opportunity to visit many places, including family vacations to Disney World and the beaches of Padre Island. She even traveled to Mexico to help build a church on a missionary trip. She worked with children in day cares, visited the members of the local nursing home, and even helped washing dishes in her family’s restaurant.

Although Idolina never learned to drive, she was a social butterfly and was always ready to hit the road seeking adventure. Up until the end she could be heard saying, “Are you ready? You got your car? Let’s Go.”

And she has gone. She’s now in Heaven waiting on all her family to join her where the laughter and fun will continue. We love you Viejita!

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 13, at 10 a.m., at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 777 East Seventh Street, in Powell. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may donate to Cody Regional Health Spirit Mountain Hospice House, 808 Canyon Ave, Cody, WY 82414.
