Downtown Powell will be filled with musical stylings and a variety of artistic flair Thursday night as local merchants host the first-ever Art Walk.From 5-7 p.m. Thursday, businesses will be open late to showcase the works of local artists.
“It's free for people to attend, and it's a great way to get any of that after-hour shopping done,” said Naomi Burns, director of the Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Some of the artistic displays and talents featured in the walk are:
• Drawings by Jeff Kary on display at The Merc.
• Photographer Susan Stone showcased at Parlor News.
• Violinist Shelbi McNeil will entertain at Lights ‘N Such.
• Photographer Janet Reed Bradley's prints and Terry Kinsman's lathe work will be shown at Powell Office Supply.
• The musical stylings of George Miller will take the spotlight at Travel ‘N Such.
• Dan Hadden will display his fine leather work at Lets Talk Cellular.
• Marquis Awards and Specialties will host artists Chad and Linda Nelson.
• Sculptures by Chris Ivanoff will be shown at True Value.
• Four Seasons Floral will host photographer Rowene Weems.
• Photographer Lynn Richardson's work will be highlighted at Sunlight Mattress and Appliance.
• Little Elf Toy Company also plans to host an artist during Thursday's Art Walk.
• In central downtown, pianist Ray Fetzer will entertain at Plaza Diane — Community Center for the Arts.
“With the opening of Plaza Diane, I think we'll see a lot of these activities in the downtown area,” Burns said.
