Park County Sheriff’s Office deputies are looking for the owner of a black and white female shorthair border collie wearing a black nylon harness at the Willwood Dam fishing access.
According to a Facebook post, deputies initially found the stray dog Tuesday after a report about the dog was made. Deputies searched the area and were unable to locate the owner. Deputies decided to leave the dog there overnight in the hope it would return home since, as the release said, there is no animal control in the county.
Wednesday morning deputies responded to check on the dog again and it was still there. As of Wednesday afternoon deputies were still looking for its owner in the hope that it is merely lost and that someone was not committing the crime of dumping/abandoning the dog, which they said is very well-trained.
If you recognize the dog, contact the Park County Sheriff's Office at 307-527-8700. She is currently assisting a deputy on patrol.
