Tour of Homes dedicated to Joyce BloomCountry Christmas, an annual holiday tradition brimming with festivities, takes place in Powell this weekend.As Powell celebrates its centennial year, the weekend will reflect the past 100 years.Holiday photos depicting historic Christmas celebrations will be on display at Plaza Diane — Community Center for the Arts. The exhibit opens Friday and will be on display during Saturday's Country Christmas events.

The diplay is a collaborative effort with the Country Christmas and Centennial committees.
The centennial theme continues Friday evening with a free “Echoes of the Century” holiday concert, featuring noted musicians Jeff Troxel and Tim Schoessler and the noted sounds of the Chesarek Bell Choir, Wetzel said. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church. It concludes with a caroling sing-along, Wetzel said.
On Saturday, the Homesteader Museum will host an open house from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Saturday also features holiday craft and food booths from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at The Commons.
Also in The Commons on Saturday, holiday entertainment will be provided. The Sunlight String Quartet performs at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Forty Fabulous Fingers at 10:30 a.m. A recorder quartet will be featured at 1 p.m., and guitarist George Miller performs at 2 p.m. In Light of Eternity completes the afternoon entertainment with a 3 p.m. show.
Santa Claus will stop by The Commons from 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m.
Outside Plaza Diane — Community Center for the Arts, Christy Muecke will do ice sculpting beginning at 10 a.m. Also outside the plaza, Stomp and Co. Cloggers perform at 11:30 a.m. The Absaroka Mountain Thunder Cloggers will entertain crowds outside the plaza at 2:30 p.m.
Inside Plaza Diane, “Holiday Music from Around the World” begins at 3:30 p.m.
“Groups will sing holiday songs from their countries,” Wetzel said. “At the end, Silent Night will be sung in a variety of languages.”
As part of Country Christmas festivities, Vali Cinema will show “Hotel for Dogs” during a free matinee at 1 p.m.
Saturday's events conclude with the Country Christmas Lighted Parade at 6 p.m.
The weekend culminates with the Christmas Tour of Homes from 1-5 p.m. The event is a holiday tribute to Joyce Bloom, who started the event in 1986.
Floats wanted
More floats are wanted for the Country Christmas Lighted Parade Saturday night.
“We've extended the deadline,” said Sharon Earhart, chairman of the Christmas parade.
Folks can pick up their float entry forms at Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The parade theme is, “Echoes of the Century.”
