It’s a first: the Jim Beavers Memorial Graveyard Gallop run or walk is Saturday, Oct. 29.
The event is sponsored by Homesteader Museum and features a 10K run, a 5K run and a mile run or walk. Courses of all distances will be in and around Crown Hill Cemetery or marked on adjacent Lane 9.
Jim Beavers was a longtime member of the Homesteader Museum board of directors.
All events begin at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 29. Participants are encouraged to attend dressed in Halloween costume or the green and yellow colors of the Green Bay Packers football team (Jim’s favorite).
Sign-up forms are available at Homesteader Museum and Powell Valley Chamber of Commerce visitor center, or the day of the event, 8 a.m.-9:15 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. The 10K run is $25, the 5K is $20 and the 1 mile run or walk is $10. Prizes will be awarded.
Funds will go to Homesteader Museum Association, Inc. for children’s scholarships for workshops at the museum and educational and professional training.
