Park County commissioners are declaring April 29 as “Hank Coe Day” to honor the longtime public servant, who is currently battling cancer.
Coe served as a county commissioner for eight years before going on to serve in the Wyoming Senate for 32 years, including a term as Senate president. The Cody Republican announced his retirement last year, and his eighth and final term ended earlier this month.
However, Coe has faced a new challenge in the form of the cancer diagnosis and on Tuesday, Commissioner Joe Tilden suggested a tribute to the longtime lawmaker.
Supported unanimously by his colleagues, Tilden made a motion to declare Coe’s birthday — which is April 29 — as “Hank Coe Day in Park County, Wyoming.” Commissioners also plan to honor Coe, 74, with a written resolution and a plaque.
“As soon as he’s feeling better, we’ll get him here and make a presentation,” Tilden said.
